Oh, look what I did. This is a Joel Salatin/Polyface Farm bird. So happy!!
The SF Giants Hunter Pence is on the Paleo Diet! He’s not as hardcore as I am, but he’s definitely seen great results, like all my fellow cavemen and cavewomen. More and more athletes are turning to paleo, like today’s St. Louis Cardinal’s starting pitcher Lance Lynn.
Seared Ahi Tuna w/ a Toasted Coconut Flake & Prune Kale Salad that was sautéed in Coconut Oil, Cumin and Mustard Seed.
This is the best meal I’ve put together thus far balancing taste and health. The kale tasted amazing and that never happens!
Tuna - quick and easy - marinate in a Tamari (paleo-ish but whatever, still gluten free; next time I’m using coconut amino instead), salt and pepper, ginger, green onion and garlic clove for 30 minutes. Sear on both sides on medium-high heat for 90-120 seconds.
Salad - on lower heat, add coconut oil, cumin and mustard seed. Then add sliced up prunes followed by the coconut flakes that I pre-browned in oven at 300 degrees after just a few minutes. Lastly, add the kale and sautéed until your desired consistency.

Lešo Meso sa Domači Vino
Croatian for “Boiled Meat with Homemade Red Wine.
Thank you to my Baba and Dide (Grandma and Grandpa) for preparing this wonderful meal and making this amazing wine. I love you!
Paleo Banana Bread
These are two separate attempts. I used the Civilized Caveman’s recipe which can be found at http://civilizedcavemancooking.com/.
Despite the slightly overcooked tops and deflated look, it’s quite delicious. My wife couldn’t get enough of it.
I didn’t keep either attempt in the oven for the full 60 minutes (50-55 min. Instead) upon seeing the browning on top.
Is Miley Cyrus’ backside paleo?
I doubt it. Although she’s clearly pasteurized, her diet isn’t toxin free. Plus, the Cyrus gene is most likely genetically modified.
I made my own blackening dry rub, then used melted grass fed butter to apply it to the meat.
Seared all sides for about 2-3 minutes a piece at a medium high heat, then placed it in the oven at 225 degrees for 30 minutes. Still came out a tad too rare for my taste. Overall, pretty tasty though. Loving the blackening seasoning lately.
Trying not to get myopic with my meat selection, I’ve turned to game meats. I found an amazing local butcher, The Organic Butcher of McLean, and started eating all kinds of “exotic” meat. Antelope, Wild Boar, Venison, Elk and Bison are all staples of my diet now. The pic is of a Venison Tenderloin recipe I’m trying out.
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 egg
- 1 heaping tablespoon of almond butter
Mash and mix well. Cook in coconut oil.
I added pure maple syrup on top at the end. Couldn’t resist.
I love breakfast!!
Eggs and Bacon from the famous Polyface Farms in Virginia on top of a bed of spinach.
Switching over to 100% pasteurized eggs has been amazing. The taste of the yolks are tremendous. Check out how deep yellow/orange the yolks look. Next, the blood work has improved as well since the whole paleo switch, however, especially since eating these eggs from Polyface Farms.
